Supergirl’s second season is shaping up very nicely indeed, now that she’s in her rightful place on The CW. Even before the announcement of a Supergirl/Flash musical crossoverearlier today (August 11), there was a lot to get excited about.
First and foremost, Merlin’s Katie McGrath has been cast as Lena Luthor, Lex’s sister, who will share a complex friendship with Kara (Melissa Benoist).
Following the DC TV panel at the TCA Press Tour today (August 11), Digital Spy grabbed the chance to grill executive producers Sarah Schechter and Ali Adler about the addition of McGrath.
“She is so cool,” enthused Schechter. “What a devilish, wonderful personality."
”Kara finally gets a friend, who isn’t a sister and isn’t an adversary,“ added Adler. ”She gets a peer, who she can discuss her personal and professional goals with.“
”Lena presents herself as having very, very different goals than her brother,“ Schechter said. ”That allows for a very complicated, grounded relationship [with Kara]".
"We talked a lot, as a model, about the values of a democrat and the values of a republican clashing, but they can still be friends,“ added Adler.
